Google Sitemaps for Webmasters
Google comes up with their beta testing product, a sitemap crawler that will help webmaster to submit their sites at a much faster rate to google.
Webmasters will have a higher level of control over their content and what get indexed in google. Webmasters need to create XML files contaning all the URLs they want the sitemap crawler to crawl and index it. They will be passing on hits about the URLs such as page last changed and the rate of change.
How would this help Search Engine Optimization?
As a webmaster you have more control over what gets fed into google. You can point out to pages that should be indexed first and then have a scale of pages that follows.
You can update it frequently and have the Sitemap Crawler come and update the search engine index.
This is more cost effective for google and for the webmaster. Finally Google is not charging anything for this service, so it is even better.
They are doing beta testing on this product and with XML, I believe this is going to be the next step in search engine history.
